The best way to preemptively stop a problem is to repeat it.
Write down your memories. Add a crazy thing that obviously didn't happen. Re-read it every so often and see if there's one day you remember the crazy thing actually happening. But naturally, you then wouldn't remember that you made it up. So make sure the crazy thing is a good memory!
